TPMS stands for tire pressure monitoring systems, and consist of these little sensors that go in each of your wheels, and what they’re going to do is they are going to tell your car what the current pressure of each tire is.
Now the reason why this is so important is having your tires properly inflated its going to give you the best performance the best fuel economy its going to reduce blowouts and its going to extend your tires life.
From above data chart we can clear know:
· When the tire pressure is 25% higher than the standard pressure, the tire life will be reduced by 15%~20%.
· When the tire temperature is higher than the maximum temperature limit (generally not more than 80 degrees Celsius), the tire wear will increase by 2% for each degree of increase.
· When the tire pressure is insufficient, the contact area between the tire and the ground increases, and the friction force increases, resulting in increased fuel consumption and increased vehicle pollution emissions.
· Insufficient or too high tire pressure can also affect the optimal handling of the vehicle, and can also increase abnormal wear on vehicle components such as the suspension system.
TPMS Sensor In Vehicle
Sensor sends information to Receiver with wireless RF high-frequency signal (315MHz or 433MHz) according to a certain protocol.
Receiver, transmits information to ECU through wired connection.
ECU, which transmits the information to the Dash Board.
PS: The sensor protocol is the communication rule between the sensor and the receiver stipulated by the OEM. Protocol content, including sensor ID, detected pressure, temperature and other information. Different cars have different sensor protocols.
The sensor ID is like the ID number, there is absolutely no OE sensor with the same ID. When each vehicle is off the assembly line, its own 4 sensors have been registered in its own ECU. When running on the road, it will not mistakenly identify the sensors on other vehicles.
So when the vehicle replaces the sensor,
1, or replace the same protocol, the same ID, the sensor.
2. Either replace the sensor with the same protocol but different ID, and then register this new sensor ID to the vehicle ECU.
This action of registering the new sensor ID to the vehicle ECU is usually called TPMS Relearn in the European and American markets.
After understanding the working principle of TPMS sensor, the following is the use and activation process of Fortune's TPMS sensor. Detailed steps for activation can be found in the following short video
